Quick Facts
- Add facts in ACF “Quick Facts”.
Challenge
Deliver a cost-effective, self-contained monitoring system that enables continuous vibration measurements without external excitation, while offering easy data access and compatibility with seismic and SHM networks.
Solution
The solution was based on the xWave MAX standalone unit, featuring:
- Embedded triaxial accelerometer with 24-bit AD conversion for high-precision vibration measurements.
- Continuous data storage on a 32 GB internal SD card for reliable long-term data logging.
- Integrated web server for convenient local data management and direct SD card downloads.
- SeedLink protocol support for real-time data streaming to seismic and SHM networks.
- FTP capabilities for secure remote transfer and redundancy.
Outcomes
This compact and network-ready system provides the university with a simple yet powerful tool for monitoring building vibrations. It supports research and educational activities, facilitates inspection and validation studies, and serves as a cost-effective entry point into advanced SHM practices. With its integrated web server, SeedLink, and FTP connectivity, the xWave MAX delivers a reliable, low-maintenance solution tailored to both academic and structural monitoring needs.
