Overview

xDAS® is Digitex Systems’ distributed Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) solution, designed to instrument large and complex structures with networks of intelligent sensors. By combining multiple IoT‑based acquisition units, xDAS provides a scalable, modular, and reliable way to capture the dynamic response of structures in real time.

From bridges and dams to skyscrapers, tunnels, pipelines, and industrial facilities, xDAS delivers the ‘pulse’ of any structure continuously, enabling operators to assess safety and performance instantly. It’s the most flexible and adaptable solution for any preventive and proactive maintenance project.

The xDas system integrates seamlessly with Digitex’s Voyager® software running on xPlorer® or in the cloud, providing centralized acquisition, storage, and analysis. Each xDAS node digitizes sensor data directly at the source, ensuring noise‑free transmission over Ethernet, Wi‑Fi, DigiMESH®, or low‑cost CAT5 cabling. The modular architecture allows hundreds of units to be combined in daisy‑chain or star topologies, making it ideal for projects of any scale.

Description

xDAS functions as a digital nervous system for proactive maintenance projects in civil infrastructure. Simply put, the sensors continuously stream real‑time data to the system, where configurable thresholds can trigger event recording, automated alerts, and immediate analysis.

It detects critical events such as earthquakes, wind storms, or heavy impacts instantly, with pre‑ and post‑event memory ensuring no data is lost. You’ll also get automatically generated PDF reports and event files that are uploaded to secure FTP servers.

With its multi‑threaded software design, xDAS can handle large numbers of acquisition units simultaneously. It supports cross‑correlation and quick analysis features, providing insights into structural mode shapes, damping, and load interactions. In addition, data can be distributed in real time across multiple locations, allowing engineers, owners, and authorities to access the same information instantly.

Structural Health Monitoring Applications

xDAS is designed for large‑scale SHM projects where distributed monitoring is essential. On top of that, its flexibility and scalability make it applicable to:

  • Multi‑story buildings and skyscrapers
  • Bridges of all types
  • Old and historical constructions
  • Retrofits and rehabilitation projects
  • Mining facilities and underground structures
  • Dams and reservoirs
  • Oil platforms and rigs
  • Pipelines and long‑span infrastructure
  • Power plants and energy facilities
