Challenge

Provide a permanent seismic and structural monitoring solution for a hospital located in an earthquake-prone region, ensuring safety of occupants, compliance with regulatory requirements, and resilience of healthcare services.

Solution

The deployment was based on the xDAS Sentry system, consisting of:

  • 20 xWave accelerometer units installed in uni-, bi-, and tri-axial configurations, providing 36 acceleration channels for comprehensive coverage of the hospital structure.
  • xPlorer Premium with Voyager software serving as the central acquisition and data management station.

Together with our partner, we implemented a resilient power supply and communication network, which substantially increased monitoring system reliability and stability.

Outcomes

The system equips hospital operators and engineers with real-time seismic monitoring and structural response data, enabling rapid emergency response and supporting long-term performance evaluations. By fulfilling Chile’s governmental monitoring requirements, the project ensures regulatory compliance, enhances public safety, and strengthens the resilience of critical healthcare infrastructure in one of the most seismically active regions of the world.
