Challenge

Monitor multiple newly constructed railway bridges under high structural loads, vibrations from train traffic, and challenging ground conditions, while ensuring safety and operational resilience.

Solution

Multi-channel system based on RTMS-2001R included:

  • 24-bit data acquisition technology for precise monitoring.
  • Distributed accelerometers and other sensor types to capture vibrations, strain, displacement, and environmental effects.
  • A central recording system with real-time access for engineers.
  • Remote connectivity enabling efficient data transfer and analysis under field conditions.

Outcomes

The project enhanced railway bridge safety and resilience by providing reliable structural data from multiple sites. Continuous monitoring supported early detection of potential issues, assisted engineers in understanding dynamic bridge behavior under train loads, and informed long-term infrastructure management decisions. This early deployment showcased the role of SHM systems in modern railway safety.
