Challenge

Provide a multi-parameter monitoring solution for a large bridge, capable of tracking acceleration, strain, displacement, tilt, and visual inspection in a seismically sensitive and environmentally demanding region.

Solution

The installation consisted of two 24-bit RTMS-WM systems, with a total of 57 channels, including:

  • 4 channels of acceleration
  • 36 channels of foil strain gauges
  • 12 channels of vibration wire strain gauges
  • 7 channels of vibration wire displacement sensors
  • 2 channels of non-vibrating wire tilt meters
  • 4 channels of vibrating wire tilt meters
  • 6 camera channels for visual inspection

Outcomes

The system provided a complete view of bridge performance under operational and environmental loads. It integrated acceleration, strain, displacement, tilt, and visual data; The bridge engineers and operators gained robust insights into the structural behaviour. This way, they started improving the maintenance planning, devising an operational safety strategy, and planning the long-term resilience of the Oceanic Bridge.
